I have read Numbers 21:4-9 in both a formal translation (KJV, NKJV, NASB, ESV, or CSB) and a functional translation (NIV, NLT, or NCV). Highlight the correct answer. You will find a copy of the NASB, ESV, CSB, and NLT in your myWSB Library. • Yes • No • Having read the passage in both formal and functional translation, list at least 2 similarities and 3 differences between the way both translations cover this story. KJV: "and our soul loatheth this light bread." NLT: "and we hate this horrible manna!" Both have the same descriptions. KJV: "And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died." NLT: "So the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died. KJV: "that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived." NLT: "Then anyone who was bitten by the snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!" In the KJV quote one could take the wording as anyone who held the serpent would live whereas the NLT says they must look at the bronze snake.
