Attorney™s specialize in different types of law, thus the differences in duties based on what type of law firm you work for. Specializing in Criminal Law, the paralegal may have different duties such as preparing legal documents, researching cases, securing and coordinating witnesses and evidence (Goda, S., 2015). It is crucial that evidence be secured whether it be documents, witnesses, audio tapes or video tapes which must ensure that they were properly obtained and are legitimate. Reason being that in criminal law, the case is based off the burden of proof or standard of proof (Call 4 Justice., 2013). Due process must be followed in Criminal law; legal procedures have to be followed in proceedings. Essentially it is the duty of the Prosecutor (State), to prove burden of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant did in fact commit the crime. This is why is it of utter importance that the paralegal be very organized and detailed when it comes to evidence and making sure that it is legitimate and that all procedures are followed when it was obtained because it can make or break a case.
