You will need to know all of the terms introduced in Ch.1 relating to positions, sections, regions, relative comparisons, etc. This includes the information presented in the figures on pages 15, 16, the terms and definitions on pages 16-17, all of the body planes and sections presented on pages 17 and 18, and info on the body cavities on pages 20-22. Chapter 2:This chapter deals with basic chemistry. For most of you this should all be review. Know the DNA base pairing rules. Know the difference between synthesis and decomposition reactions. Know what atomic mass, atomic number, and isotopes are. Know that heat increases the rates of chemical reactions. Know that potassium is an example of an electrolyte and the role it plays in our bodies. Know what the various biomolecules are: proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids. Chapter 3:This chapter deals with basic cell structure and function, as well as tissue organization. Know the various organelles presented and their functions. Know what osmotic pressure is.
