They assumed that there may be Japanese spy’s in the United States but didn’t know how classify them individually. The easiest way for the government to prevent an attack on the west was to move all the Japanese away from the coast and move them inland and away from oil fields, fisheries and airports. Hypothesis 1: Why were Japanese Americans interned during World War II? The government was not sure if any of the Japanese that lived in the United States were spy’s and this was a way for the government just to try and put all the Japanese in a specific area that was easier controlled and supervised by the Army.
