An example of how learning environments can intersect to work more effectively Written Assignment Unit 1 Course 5210 Learning Theory - Term 3, 2018-2019 Submitted 6th Feb 2019 mAn example of how... learning environments can intersect to work more effectively A school is made up of many parts, from the written curriculum, the taught curriculum, the social make-up of the school and even to a certain extent the physical infra-structure of the school itself. However, the way the parts all come together has been defined as the school “Ethos” Donnelly defines Ethos as “the distinctive range of values and beliefs, which define the philosophy or atmosphere of an organization” (Donnelly, 2000). A major influence on the ethos is the learning environment as it sets out the expectations of the school in terms of its main goals which is learning. In this short paper I will look at the major components of the learning environment as outlined by Bransford, Brown and Cocking (2000) and describe how they are articulated at my current school. DEMOGRAPHICS? I will consider two areas of importance to my school, the use and teaching of language and inquiry-based education ln addressing each of the components in turn and describing the situation in my school. Consideration of how they intersect and reinforce the total environment will also be given. Teaching deals with the real situation in each class and any system may not be fully in place for any class, hence I am discussing what we have planned which may not be fully implemented as yet.
