*NURSING > CAPSTONE SIMULATION > EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING (All)
Abstract The problem addressed in the DPI project is low rates of exclusive breastfeeding rates. The rates of exclusive breastfeeding need must be improved to meet a quality life of the infants withi... n the six months. The purpose of this quantitative quasi-experiment is to determine to what degree the implementation of principles related to the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative would impact exclusive breastfeeding rates at two weeks postpartum when compared to current practice among expectant mothers in a maternity clinic in rural South Carolina over four(to six) weeks. The project will utilize the Nola Pender’s health promotion theory and the change model to ensure effective implementation of the quality improvement practice. The sample size of 20 gestation mothers at 38 weeks or greater will participate in the DPI project. In addition, 4 nurses will be trained to implement the principles of BFHI in South Carolina rural clinic and data collected by nurses using clinic intake form. Further, data will be analyzed using paired t-test using SPSS. The statistical significance of the two groups will be determined to conclude the findings of the DPI project and provide recommendations.
