Purpose: In this assignment you will demonstrate what you understand about the life cycle of stars and how elements are formed. Directions: Complete the parts below. PART 1: According to NASA, “... nucleosynthesis” means “the creation of new elements in stars by combining lighter nuclei to make heavier nuclei.” Write a definition of nucleosynthesis you could use with an elementary school student. Lighter nuclei come together to make heavier nuclei, and when that happens, it creates a new element Draw a model on paper of how you think this happens in stars, take a photo of it and insert the picture in the space below. Diagrams from the internet at not acceptable. In words, describe why you have drawn the model the way you did. Include terms from your model where you can.
