During these past weeks, I have experienced many challenges and many opportunities. The experiences, skills, and knowledge I have acquired are invaluable in achieving my goal of becoming a Nurse Pract... itioner. However, becoming a Nurse Practitioner is only the beginning since starting the program in which it is designed to lay the foundation for not just myself as a student but all students for our future in the Nurse Practitioner Profession. With each course is a step toward acquiring invaluable knowledge and inner growth. Knowledge and inner growth that will guide all of us how to deliver care to our patients, how we relate to our colleagues, how we contribute to our profession, and how we meet expectations of all stakeholders involved. At the end of each course, we have the opportunity to evaluate our progress- how we are as students acquiring the skills and knowledge that is allowing us the growth into our future roles. In this course, we are going to review the MSN program outcome #5, MSN Essential VIII, and the Nurse Practitioner Core Competency # 8 Ethics Competencies. Chamberlain College of Nursing Program Outcome #5 Advocates for positive health outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based, collaborative advanced nursing practice. (Extraordinary nursing) Everybody intends to grow themselves personally and professionally. There are different ways to achieve these goals. Advocates for positive health outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based, collaborative advanced nursing practice. In doing so, I was able to provide positive health outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based, and collaborative advanced nursing practice. Thus, using the course objectives as a foundation for practice, over the past seven weeks I have assumed the role in advocating for my patients. In doing so, I have built that special trusting relationship with my patients. Advocacy is an essential aspect of the due diligence of the patients’ rights when assuming their care to protect them with regards to the delivery of their care. Furthermore, this course has taught me that through the use of evidence-based practice advocacy is encompassed in patient care to achieve the ultimate goal of positive health outcomes (Menlyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2015). With the direction of the program outcomes, I can use this as my foundation to meet these outcomes to move further into the program. [Show More]
