NR 511 Week 1 Discussion: Introduction Hello Dr. Shay and Class, Before this whole Covid 19 situation, I was set to start my clinical rotation at Primary Care Offices in Miramar, Florida. This p... ractice has been there for over 18 years and specializes in family medicine and geriatric medicine. None of the physicians at this office specializes in pediatric medicine. My anticipated schedule for this rotation was set for Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 am – 5 pm. The physician that I was suppose to be with at that office had no other student for this semester. This week I was looking forward to getting oriented to the clinical site and staff. My goal for the first week was to shadow my preceptor and learn the screening process of different age group at the primary care settings. This office is located right across the street from a huge senior living facility. This office must have large geriatric patient group and I was curious about the vaccination requirement for this age group. One of the most difficult things in complication of these rotation is committing myself to those two days a week with the same physician. Some weeks he is at the other office but it should not be an issue since the other office is not that far from where I live. Another barrier is with full time job and requirements for overtime. Learning a new health information system, in a very short time, will also be a challenge. Hoping to start at this location since everything is slowly opening up. Thank you, Abuasad.
