Television was at it™s all t... ime glory with shows like œThe Cosby Show, œWho™s the Boss, œFamily Ties and the list goes on. One show stood in a category to itself œThe Golden Girls. Through the lenses of history, humanities, natural and applied science and finally, social sciences, we can assert that this was truly one of the most iconic shows of all time and thus a true pop culture artifact. Natural and Applied Sciences The Golden Girls were trailblazers in the realm of natural sciences. With respect to issues such as in vitro fertilization, body modification and contemporary issues such as organ donation(Mercuri, 2015), they taught many families at home about these contemporary, scientific issues. One episode in particular, Blanc™s daughter is a single, working woman who wants in vitro fertilization to have a baby. She visits her mom requesting help to do so and throughout the episode you learn about Blanc™s old world, southern way of thinking and her prejudice towards the issue. Blanc seems to be more concerned about what people will think as opposed to what her daughter wants to live a meaningful life. As the climax of the storyline finalizes, her daughter goes into labor and Blanc forgets about her misconceptions and is the one there for the childbirth.
