Will Online Shopping Gradually Replace In-person Shopping? What else can be easier than to purchase from the bedroom and to get the products at the doorway without stepping out from home? Significan... t advancement of technology has made life easier by introducing online shopping. Nowadays, people can buy from anywhere using their cellphones, and this incredible addition in shopping is becoming more popular for its convenience. As a result, online shopping will gradually replace in-person shopping because it is more advantageous for customers and cost-effective for business owners. Firstly, online shopping is more helpful for consumers because it provides whole day access for purchasing, cuts waiting time for paying bills and provides a degree of certainty. To begin, shopping online provides the availability to buy anytime. For instance, consumers can buy anything from online at the middle of the night or early in the morning. On the other hand, offline stores follows a fixed business hours. Next, online shopping reduces the long waiting time for paying bills. To illustrate, people needs to wait in a long queue to pay money if they go for inperson shopping. Lastly, online shopping is beneficial because it provides a degree of certainty. For example, consumers can check online whether the product is available or not, and they will only purchase when it is available. “Purchasing a product from an e-commerce website provides a degree of certainty. You can search for the desired item in seconds and once it’s been located, it’s a simple matter to see whether it’s in stock and what the delivery time is going to be” (Clawson, 2019). Therefore, customers get an unlimited access, save time and get assurance on the availability of the products from internet based shopping. Secondly, online shopping is cost-effective for the business owners because it saves high rental cost, saves money from paying taxes and reduces other operational costs. Online business owner can save high rental costs compared to retail business owners. To demonstrate, as online traders don’t need any physical store, they can save that money easily. According to Wang (2018) “Space is becoming more and more expensive. On one hand you have a growing population, [but you also] have millennials and younger generations losing interest in owning.” In addition, online shops are not physically present, so business owners do not need to spend extra money for paying taxes. Moreover, online business benefits business owners by reducing extra operational costs. For example, internet based business owners don’t need to pay the utility bills, and they don’t need many employees like retail stores. Thus, online business saves money of the owners regarding rent, annual tax and operational costs. [Show More]
