Running head: EVIDENCE-BASED RESEARCH INTERVIEW 1 Evidence- Based Research Interview HLT-540: Health Care Research Methods, Analysis, and Utilization Grand Canyon University November 30, 2016 E... vidence-Based Research Interview In an interview with Christen Strong, MSN, RN, ONC, nurse manager of the Oncology Unit at University of California Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, California, the following topics were reviewed: the changes which that the health care leader is involved in implementing evidence based practice. How strongly did the manager feel the research on the topic was? Have they ever rejected research findings? Include any concerns they have had or resistance they have experienced when implementing changes based on research. This paper will discuss, analyze, and identify the components that comprise of the implemenation of a valid evidence-based research. Evidence-Base Practice The Evidenece Based Practice was first presented in the published literature in 1991. In the years of 1996, the most well cited Evidence Based Practice article defined evidence practice medicine as the practical, precise, and explicit use of the best practice in making decisions about the individualized care of patients. Additional, Evidence Based Practice is known as a systematic method to obtain a solution to a clinical problem allowing implementation of the best available research practices with patient standards and medical expertise. Finally, the characterisation of evidence based practice emphasizes on the three fundamental principles outlining best clinical practices: organized summaries of the best evidence, a schematic plan for determining what constitutes the best medical practices and the able to take into account every patient preferences and value. To appreciate the importance of evidence based practice, one can reflect on the traditional methods of medical practice before evidence based practice medicine (Kamath & Guyat, 2016).
