What is the Quest... ion 1 2011 exam prompt asking students to do? What literary devices did the author use to develop the relationship between a father and a son? The prompt is asking the students to analyze the techniques the author used to develop a complex father son relationship. The author uses personal anecdotes from their lives, the author uses metaphors, and appeals to the readers emotions. 2. Write a thesis statement in response to the Question 1 2011 exam prompt. The author of “A Story” is responsible for developing a relationship between a father and his young son. By using personal anecdotes, metaphors, and appealing to the readers emotions, Lee was able to create a beautiful poem that represents the complexities of a relationship. For the remaining questions in this section, you will make connections between “A Story” (Question 1 from 2011 exam) and “Myth of Music” (Question 1 from 2017). You can revisit “Myth of Music” in the previous lesson if you need a refresher of the poem. 3. Who is the speaker in each poem? How does the speaker affect the point of view and the ultimate meaning of each poem? The speaker in the poem “Myth of Music” is a girl who felt she was connected with her family through music. This affected the POV because she was the one whose life, she was talking about so we could get more specific details and it felt more personal. Whereas in the poem “a story” the speaker is third person and we are just looking in at their lives so it doesn’t feel as personal. [Show More]
