I will also discuss the education and experience required to become a nurse executive. Characteristics The foundation of a nurse executive begins with effective communication. The nurse executive would have to be able to make oral presentations to a diverse audience throughout the organization. The role requires this leader to be able to demonstrate skills in interpersonal communication to foster relationships with stakeholders both internal and external to the organization (American Organization of Nurse Executives, 2015). A strong sense of professionalism and ethical behavior are two musts for a nurse executive.
