Nursing informatics could be applied to all areas of professional nursing practice such as clinical practice, administration, education and research. A registered nurse working in a clinical setting uses informatics daily. For example, the use of electronic health records (EHR), and electronic medical records (EMR) is a form of information technology that nurses use to document patient information.
