Running Head: COMPARISON OF HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS BETWEEN FRANCE AND THE US Introduction The world health organization officially recognizes the healthcare system of France as the most advanced and i... mproved globally. This is the main reason for comparison against the French healthcare system in order to form an opinion on the improvements which the united states need to make on its system and also establish how far up the healthcare system in the united states is compared to the best in the world. Major comparisons France has demonstrated the ability to of providing access to quality universal health care while maintaining the freedom to choose for patients and doctors,[Hen14]. Patient in France have the liberty to choose the kind of treatment which they deem best for them. The freedom of choice to patients is far from being achieved in the united states as patients still queue at public healthcare facilities to access the doctor who is available under regulatory procedures which are very strict. The data from OECD in 2008 shows that the French government uses approximately 11% of the total GDP on health related expenses which is 5% less than what the united states spends,[Hil10]. This shows that the united states health system is not efficient enough as more money is spent with less admirable impact compared to France. The government in France engages in bargaining with hospitals and pharmaceutical companies making it a social justice system thus ensuring cheap medical care for its citizens. In contrast the united states government sis restricted from bargaining for cheaper healthcare system and hence leave the cost of health services at the mercy of market forces, this makes the cost of medicine and treatment in the united states expensive compared to France. 2 This study source was downloaded by 100000784424693 from CourseHero.com on 04-17-2021 10:52:08 GMT -05:00 https://www.coursehero.com/file/38233335/Health-care-in-the-united-states-compared-to-the-healthcare-in-Francedocx/ This study resource was shared via CourseHero.com Running Head: COMPARISON OF HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS BETWEEN FRANCE AND THE US In the year 2012 the deaths from upper respiratory infection and stroke decreased, the deaths associated with dementias, heart disease, kidney disease and Alzheimer’s disease increased while, deaths from lung cancers, ischemic heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon and rectum cancer, diabetes mellitus and trachea diseases all remained the same in the united states.
