W: NEW FACILITY START UP 2 Literature Review: New Facility Start Up The start up of a new hospital is complicated and requires numerous hours of education, leadership, support and implementation. A start up process involves new policies and procedures, implementation of new documents, education and training, along with support and leadership to make the entire process successful. There are numerous examples of hospital startups that were unpractical or inadequately planned and have caused a hospital to be incompletely constructed and discarded or terminated within a few years due to unprofitability (Smigelski, 2015). Nursing Supervisors need to attend leadership training in order to be advocates and make a positive impact on patient outcomes. The significance of nursing supervisors is needed to empower and influence nurses’ confidence in order to restore nurses’ confidence and inspire them to embrace and initiate the adjustments needed (Lancaster, D’Leema, Narcavage-Bradley, Sollazzo, & Esposito, 2016). Current Evidence-Based Literature There are many communities in critical need of a mental health facility. The problem we continue to see is that people are not seeking or receiving help because they lack the knowledge necessary and the resources to obtain it.
