D) Nursing – This refers to the delivery of optimal care to the patient by a professional nurse in an environment that is safe and conducive for healing. This is where all the knowledge, skills, interpersonal and interdepartmental communication are exercised as the novice nurse carries out her duties and responsibilities in order to achieve the best possible outcome for her patients. • How is this nursing theory useful to the nursing profession? Answer: Patricia Brenner’s theory is highly important in the current issue of national nursing shortage due to the increase number of aging workforce of nurses who will be retiring soon coupled with a growing unhealthy population resulting from unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, emergence of new diseases and other socio-economic factors affecting their health.
