ENGL-147N Week 7 Discussion: Revision Plan [GRADED A]

Document Content and Description Below

Week 7 Discussion: Revision Plan Name: Instructor: Course: Date: How the writing process has been going for me with my essay up to this point The assignments have made a significant impact o... n my writing skills as well as the articulation of my thoughts. I have attained skills that have facilitated me to approach various topics from a holistic approach. I have acquired skills about my claims on a particular topic and raising counter-arguments on the points that I have a different opinion about a specific topic. In addition, I have learned to present arguments or conclusions with the anticipation for the reaction from my peers or the instructor. The anticipation of such a reaction motivates me to make compelling arguments[ CITATION Sey19 \l 1033 ]. Three significant issues found in your draft feedback I have experienced challenges coming up with counter-arguments due to having literature to back my counter-argument points. I have found myself in a position with a contrary opinion but without an article or book to back my counter-arguments. The second challenge is developing claims. Claims need highlighting issues that have been proven by statistics or literature[ CITATION Sey19 \l 1033 ]. It also depends on choosing the appropriate documents to base my arguments. For instance, I need to consider aspects such as currency, accuracy, authority, and relevance before making any claim on a certain topic. The last problem in drafting feedback is finding reliable sources to raise claims or counter-arguments. Ways to correct the problem I have learned to use credible sources from credible databases in drafting feedback. I have learnt from Seyler and Brizee to make arguments with the anticipation of the reaction from the audience with different opinions. This helps me to make strong arguments when drafting my feedback[ CITATION Sey19 \l 1033 ]. For assistance in the discussion for Week 6 Deceptive Arguments, I was able to claim that “People may have an extreme fear of the outcomes and hence avoid driving as in the case identified in the findings[ CITATION Gia17 \l 1033 ].” From that example, I managed to make a claim based on the findings of the article and hence limiting the cases of rebuttals.
