2 Principles that Govern Human and Animal Behavior Behavior differs in each species of animals, including humans as well as among each specimen of each species thus to make sense of these behaviors... some principles explain them. The theory of evolution states that humans evolved from animals thus one can conclude that they share some key characteristics and they have positive correlations in their brain activities. The first principle is that behavior is affected by the immediate environment. This principle states that human and animal behavior is a product of their immediate environment. For example, providing a comfortable place and privacy for a therapist will encourage the patient to open up (Huisman et al, 2012). A safe and healthy environment usually leads to positive behaviors and according to (Malott, 2015) changing the environment will bring about a behavior change. The second principle of behavior is; that human and animal behavior is strengthened and weakened by its consequences. Both humans and animals like good consequences and dislike bad consequences thus they will behave in a good manner to avoid bad consequences. This principle can be demonstrated if a teacher is paying attention to students who behave properly other students will be motivated to behave properly. [Show More]
