What made you take the leap into entrepreneurship? I know it was the only way to survive with my family. I needed to progress for my future. 2005 I realized this 2. What were the biggest initial hurdles to building your business and how did you overcome them? Clients – trusting me with their vison / showing I could handle the work, by providing free services 3. Did you have major competitors when you started, how did you plan to compete with them? Yes, I started in an industry that will always have a lot of competition. Just go out and show that I was as good as the rest 6. What do you look for in an employee? Ethics, integrity, initiative, accountability 7. How do you facilitate a positive work environment that attracts and retains talent? Communication 8. What would you say was the single most influential factor in your business’ success? Resilience and determination 9. What is the biggest mistake you’ve made as an entrepreneur? Trying to take over an industry before anyone knew I was even around 10.What do you do to recharge when you’re feeling drained? Read, workout 11. How do you approach marketing your business? Showing concern, informing about my services, using feedback as a way to see where I’m needed 12. Who is your hero and why? Denzel Washington-his image was shown to be a dignified black man which I didn’t know when I was growing up. So, I wanted to be like him when I got older Lenex Louis-He was the first person that taught me about peace. He was a very spiritual person. He believed that if he shook someone with bad energy hands you could exchange it 13. What three pieces of advice would you give to college students who want to become entrepreneurs? If you are not already doing it don’t do it, get as much help as you possibly can, don’t change your views to fit someone else 14. How many hours do you work a day on average? 20 15. Describe/outline your typical day? Checking emails, contact potential clients, observing media, speaking to other owners, looking into state laws, looking into prices, marketing prices, studying outreach marketing, and development of my services 16. What motivates you? Disenfranchised – if I don’t do it I don’t see anyone else doing it 17.How far are you willing to go to succeed? Until there is no success that I have not known 18.How do you build a successful customer base? I am still building it, you never have a complete successful customer base until you have all of the customers 19. If you could talk to one person from history, who would it be and why? Mansa musa – one of the most powerful colored men to live. To be king you must be able to understand people, he would have the knowledge that I would need to be able to reach anywhere near his statue. King Salomon they were both bold, black men. They had integrity, honor, and love. Mansa musa had to apply his knowledge in order to gain what he had. This is the definition of a man. 20. What book has inspired you the most? (OR What is your favorite book?) The bluest eye/ a course in miracles 21. In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur. Parenting- your business is your baby. 22. What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time? Reading, writing, arts. Try to laugh as often as possible 23. What makes you happy? Seeing good people do well in life 24. Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most? Google- they made themselves a part of ever fasit of life and technology. They inspire me 25.
