To recap from Part 1 of this case study, my top two differential diagnoses were (1) Allergic conjunctivitis and (2) Viral conjunctivitis. Usually, diagnostic studies are not done to confirm conjunct... ivitis, but if I wanted to rule out one of these differentials, I could conduct a rapid adenovirus immunoassay to determine if adenovirus is present in the patient’s tear sample.
