A1 Problem Area Identified and Importance Lakeland Regional Health (LRH) is the largest hospital in Polk County Florida with over 851 beds. It is the 2nd largest in the Tampa Bay area and 6 largest... hospital in Florida. LRH emergency department saw over 200,000 patient in 2016 alone and has been deemed the “busiest single-site ER in the nation” (Marino 2017). In relation to these statistics it can be summarized that LRH plays a large role in Polk County’s population health. LRH has recently published a report with the community health statistics of Polk County vs Florida entitled: Lakeland Regional Health 2018-2021 Community Health Needs Assessment. Within this report the public health concerns of the community are Identified and analyzed and a plan is implemented to address the issues over the coming 3 years. In this report one of the concerns identified was the number of HIV/Aids cases especially in the african american population. In accordance with LRH’s vision for the community, the following project will seek to improve the healthcare practice in the area of HIV/aids infections and prevention.
