It’s called Cas... tle Rock since it is a rocky cave far away from Ralph's base at the beach, and represents Jack's power and authority. They will dream less there since it symbolizes royalty there for making the boys feel more cocky and feel more in power than they actually are. This reveales that human nature is selfish. 2. What is the irony on the forest being “like his old clothes” to Jack? (133-134) He was a prim and proper choir boy from England and his entire demeanor portrayed that before even getting to the Island. Since the experience on the Island has been causing Jack's demeanor to change, becoming more savage, completely dismissing the ways he was brought up to be a young man. 3. What does Roger’s spear thrust demonstrate about his character? This demonstrates his conversion to savagery and letting his internal insanity and evil come out from within him. As time goes by on the island Roger becomes more and more violent as well. So not only is Roger [. ] physically demonstrating his violence but metaphorically it shows the deterioration of his moral values within him. 4. What corner has been turned here? Out of the vast majority of the boys each have started to become more and more cruel losing their innocence. The Beast says the boys' savagery is increasing. The pig's head tries to tell Simon that he is in danger. 7. How might Simon’s faints be significant? They are significant because it represents his innocence compared to the other characters. The things that make Simon faint are serious evils that happen in front of him and with his purity and age, he cannot deal with. 8. Is Simon going crazy or seeing things clearly? He is not seeing things clearly because in the scene where the pigs head confronted Simon and spoke to him is a religious allegory. The allegory is one from the New Testament where Satan confronts Jesus in the wilderness for 40 days. (Use the pig’s head to help answer this question.) This is because [. ] is manipulating both boys and they know that. The pig head also helped represent this because it was a metaphor for the beauty of nature rather than the corruptness of man that killed an innocent creature of God just for sport and for pride. 10.
