The restaurant market is highly fragmented by them being small and independently owned compared to being a big chain restaurants. Small independent owners don’t want to spend money on IT. There more focus on cutting costs and attracting more customers. 3. How did OpenTable change its marketing strategy to succeed? OpenTable started out by paying for online restaurant reviews to open links to OpenTable Web but due to this being too expensive they came up with $1 fee per reservation. They have also made ERB software more friendly for the users which drove there success more. Then they focused on the geographical areas which were located in large and high class expensive restaurants. They offered a relationship with the restaurant management and by sending diners to them. This focus also was on the customer relationship with the management of the restaurant which drove more customers to come. 4. Why would restaurants find the software-as-a-service model very attractive? The restaurant business usually does not have an IT department unless there a chain like McDonald. The SaaS model is perfect for them due to them being so easy.
