Week 6 Discussion 1: Religion & The Environment Evaluate various religions’ attitudes towards humanity’s relationship with the environment. Answer: It was stated by the Director of Publications at the World watch Institute; an environmental research organization based in Washington, D.C that religions matter a lot in how one takes care of the environment. There is no doubt that 95 percent people in this world are following a religion of their choice (Lippiatt, B. C. 2017). That religion affects their way of thinking & performing everyday duties. Almost every religion has a good relationship with environment like in Christianity; it is believed that one should respect the world in order to respect God as he created it. In fact, for working in order to highlight the importance of environmentalism for Christians in the world today, the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has been nicknamed "the Green Pope". On the other hand like Christians, Muslims also believe that this World is a gift by God (Allah) & they need to take care of not only the world but the animals & environment that come with it. Even in Buddhism people are prompted to protect animals, stop pollution, clean up trash from nature & etc. Most religions are old & their teachings have not changed with time. Hence, no matter from which religion one belongs too they need to take care of the environment. Week 6 Discussion 2: Environmental Concern & Groups Evaluate how the level of environmental concern varies among different groupings (social, economic, racial, national, etc.). Answer: Indeed it is seen that social class or race does affect how people look at the environment. Mainly because the poor people or even racially discarded people live in places that are polluted by the rich with or without them knowing. Poor being the victims of dispossession, are forced to live in polluted places, they try their best to keep the environment clean not only for themselves but for their coming generations (Ferguson, T. W., & Tamburello, J. A. 2015). The rich on the other hand care less as they have everything given to them in plastic bottles & wrappers. The environments are affected by chemical & genetic pollution which originates from not from poor but rich giant chemical/biotechnology corporations. Without a doubt there are several campaigns run by rich people to save the environment by either planting thousands of trees or by picking up garbage from nature but sadly that is not enough to overcome the damage they do to the environment on daily bases even knowing very well the consequences of their doings.Different regions of the U.S also affect the environment mainly because of two reasons. One is excessive use of fuel in travelling or even production or massive population growth that results in rapid consumption of resources. References Ferguson, T. W., & Tamburello, J. A. (2015). It's the patient & their families I feel sorry for more since they're the one suffering the most when things like this happen. Anyway what are you gonna do as nurses even if we want to we can't make everyone happy which is sad sometimes but we can't control everything & that is the sad part of it all not being able to help our patients the way we'd like to. At the end of the day, the patient is the most important person in all this & that is sometimes forgotten. If these insurance companies had to sit & watch someone cry because their loved one is not ready to go home but they can not afford it, & they can not provide care at home & they make to much much for medicaid. It is highly upsetting, I can tell you. Thanks, Shelly Respond Collapse Mark as Read RE: Documentation & Reimbursement Suzanne Martell Email this Author 2/4/2015 3:44:50 PM [Show More]
