With many upcoming issues, many people claim it is one of the worst healthcare systems within the continent. The US government has spent much capital, but the end results are healthcare services of low quality. On the other hand, France offers a universal healthcare system. The World Health Organization has considered it to the best healthcare system in the entire world. Healthcare systems of both the United States and France are operated or work differently (Ashby, 2012). In the United States, healthcare services are offered by many organizations that are distinct. Many health care facilities are largely operated and owned by the private business sectors. The government owns 21% of US community hospitals. 58% are non-profit while 21% are for profits (Cooper & Gardner, 2016). The government of France largely finances the France healthcare system. National health insurance governs the healthcare system. France spends a greater percentage of its GDP on the provision of quality healthcare to its citizens. Government agencies are responsible for funding approximately 77% of the entire health expenditures (Knaus, et.al, 1982). The government takes responsibility for health care financial and operational management (Detournay et.al, 2000). In some instances, for example in long-term ailments, the government refunds the patients. This paper will focus on the comparison of health care systems of the United States and France by examination of significant health indicators like health insurance. Many similarities and differences exist in the healthcare systems of both France and the United States of America. Similarities and Differences In both countries, that is, the United States and France, the health care system has a reliance on both the government and private insurance. However, the level of national insurance for health care system in both countries does vary. The France health care is largely dependent on national insurance. Despite the reliance of United States on national insurance, it is also reliant on a mix of private and other public organizations (Cooper & Gardner, 2016). In both countries, health insurance is provided through the employers. The health care systems are financed by the governments though their levels of financing differ. For example, the government of France spends much of its finances on health issues as compared to the United States who largely depend on private health institutions. Much of finances in the USA come from private companies (Cooper & Gardner, 2016). In 2014, the health expenditure and financing of France was at 11.1% while that of United States was 16.6%. It implies that the cost of health care in the United States is high but with a reduced quality in comparison to that of France. [Show More]
