Note: Students can attend any of the above listed office hours for any class, the office hours are also listed in MYCNM and in CNM Learn in the Instructor information tab COURSE DESCRIPTION This course will focus on health and illness concepts across the lifespan, with the focus on wellness and common variations. Learning Outcomes Statements: COURSE GOAL This course will focus on health and illness concepts across the lifespan with emphasis on exemplars, evidence-based practices, collaborative care, healthcare standards, nursing informatics/technologies, and care resources associated with the concepts of the course are discussed. Normal physiology and healthy adaptations of the patient are integrated into the concept/exemplar content. Prerequisites: NRSG 1010: Introduction to Nursing Concepts, NRSG 1015: Principles of Nursing Practice Co-Requisites: NRSG 1520: Health Care Participants, NRSG 1530: Nursing Pharmacology, NURS 1535: Assessment & Health Promotion COURSE OBJECTIVES Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors COURSE Objectives: 1. Describe the scope, risk factors, physiologic processes, attributes, and clinical management of selected concepts and exemplars across the lifespan. (L2 SLO 3) 2. Discuss evidence-based practices and healthcare standards of care related to the concepts/exemplars of the course. (L2 SLO 2, 3, & 4) 3. Explain the collaboration necessary related to the concepts/exemplars of the course. (L2 SLO 5) 4. Utilize informatics and resources related to the concepts/exemplars of the course. (L2 SLO 6) 5. Integrate considerations of normal physiology and healthy adaptations into nursing practice of patients across the lifespan (L2 SLO 1, 3) ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVES Additional enabling learning objectives are provided to the students as a guide of what specific material will be assessed to determine course grades. The enabling learning objectives for this course are those described and posted under every online Learning Module that corresponds to course concepts and exemplars; additional enabling learning objectives are provided in the textbook as pertinent to assigned readings, or other learning activities. III. Course Requirements: ATTENDANCE Students enrolled for credit or audit are expected to attend all class sessions. Instructors will take attendance. Absences do not relieve students of the responsibility for missed assignments and exams. Students must take the initiative in arranging with their instructors to make up missed work. A student who misses the first class meeting and has not contacted the instructor, or who misses two consecutive class meetings in the first week may be dropped from the course. A student with excessive absences may be dropped from a course. Students dropped from a course for non-attendance will also be dropped from co-requisite courses.
