NURS 820 iHuman Week 3 – University of Cincinnati CC: Some difficulty swallowing, has become a problem, so wants it checked out; heartburn once a month. Dysphagia started about 5 onths ago, “food... ball stuck in throat”. Able to get stuff down with lots of water, but not anymore. Chewing did help but not anymore. Relieved by repeated swallows. Pressure in throat, ball of food gets stuck. Not painful. Doesn’t cough if careful, small bites and lots of chewing. Meat is more difficult. Drinking liquids used to help, not anymore. Bad enough to have to change diet. Tried Tums and Ranitidine with no help. 25lb weight loss in past 3 months; been feeling run down; food gets stuck behind breastbone, right to midchest PMH Gerd, HTN, BPH, seasonal allergies - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Consults: [Do not defer management to a specialist.
