Many factors are at play in the current nursing shortage that we are experiencing including, the economy, aging population, affordable care act, and changes in the market. These factors have all imp... acted the demand for more nurses and created a severe nursing shortage. The number of nurses outpaces every other discipline in healthcare including physicians, nursing assistants, radiographers, medical technologists, and administrators. To provide continuous quality healthcare, we must address and improve the current nursing shortage. We must anticipate, plan, and create a formal action plan to begin to recover from the nursing shortage, this is called strategic planning. We also must keep the vision, mission, and goals of the organization in mind. I will discuss a strategic plan to address the nursing shortage in a 1,000-bed level I trauma center in North Central Florida.
