The United States currently has of fifty states, and each has a distinct history and background. Researchers have not known where the original inhabitants came from before Christopher Columbus discove... red the continent (Rhodehamel, 2001). The people lived and existed long before the colonialists came, and the states had not united to become a nation. Europeans pushed out of their land so as to facilitate large-scale farming (Dalleck & McDougal, 2008). The resolve to unite the States was tested during the civil war when Southern states fought to leave the union. The population composition of each differs depending on the initial colonialist and the immigration trends (Kazin & Rothman, 2010). Each state has an administrative capital where the governors operate. Two political parties dominate the political landscape, the democrats and the republicans. The dominance on the national scene changes after each election cycle. [Show More]
