While working on his invention, a national chain store that sells safety products, was very interested in Mr. Stevens upcoming machine and wanted to sell his products exclusively. Although no contract was ever signed, Mr. Stevens verbally mentioned to the chain store several months ago that he would deliver them 1000 units of his new machine. As time passes by, Mr. Stevens arrived at his place of residency to find out there were two letters in his inbox. One of the letters was an eviction notice from his landlord stating that Mr. Stevens had 30 days to pack his bags and evict the premises because the barking device had been bothering the other tenants. It also stated that Mr. Stevens was not allowed to be conducting any business from his apartment. The second letter that he received was from the chain store requesting him to send the 1000 units immediately to them. To formally begin with this case, there are various elements that must be present to prove that a valid contract exists between Sam and the chain store. The four elements to a contract are the agreement, the consideration, contractual capacity, and legal object.
