Excellent Nursing Practice I believe most nurses try to emulate the practices and theories of Florence Nightingale because they are still prevalent and used in today ™s practices. Nurses today utilize the œcanons of nursing that guide the practice of professional nursing  (Cherry & Jacob, 2019, p.81). Of Nightingale ™s canons or standards, nurses today implement most of them. The important ones that are used for patient care are noise, variety, diet, light, chattering hopes and advices, and cleanliness. As nurses we apply these canons in a variety of ways.
