ndividual portfolio report: Each building surveyor will produce their own individual report but are required to work in groups in order to simulate a real-life multi-collaborative working platform;... an approached fostered by contemporary digital technologies. It is therefore essential to ensure that knowledge is shared amongst group members (as part of a collegiate collaborative team) but that the write-up of the portfolio report is an individual item of work produced by each individual team member (refer to the need to avoid plagiarism below). The suggested word count of the report should be in the region of 3,000 words (excluding references, illustrations and tables) – this figure is flexible and you will not be penalised for writing more. However, please note that greater volumes 2 of narrative will not attract a higher grade – rather the module team are looking for quality of the final submission. A concise, lucid, well-argued and substantiated narrative will always attract better grades than an overly verbose piece.
