TAARE ZAMEEN MOVIE REVIEW The film, Taare Zameen Par by Aamir Khan is an emotional film that confuses on the theme of dyslexia in children. The main character of the film is played by Ishaan a youn... g boy that has difficulties in reading and writing. His words are always spelt wrong and his words are inverted. However, the boy loves to draw but no one pays attentions to his creative side. Because of this difficulty in learning, his parents think that he is an idiot and lazy and he always gets punished for lack of understanding in his subjects. To punish him, his parents send him to boarding school and there he gets more punishment and this makes him loose his self-esteem and nothing about him changes. With an already traumatized separation, the new environment makes him depressed and he is always in fear. The use of emotions in the film makes an audience connect with what Ishaan is going through. As the movie progresses, a new substitute teacher is introduced. He comes with new learning techniques that intrigue the students to perform better and this is seen through their improved grades. However, he notices that nothing has changed for Ishaan and this prompts him to dig through and see the problem with the student. He realizes the student has dyslexia and goes ahead to educate the parents and the students about the condition. He then goes ahead to use special techniques and methods to teach Ishaan who eventually starts to develop interest in learning language and mathematics. He improves his learning and his grades go up and at the end wins a contest. The film has successfully highlighted the condition of dyslexia and showing the implications that should be applied in the education system to facilitate learning for all children. The education system has been prompted to create a space that makes it possible for everyone to learn as not everyone has the same capabilities as the other. First, the education has been challenged in allowing other dimensions of studying such been creative and drawing be seen as important aspects in the curriculum. Not everyone is bound to perform well in languages and mathematics. Other people are good on creative side and the education system should incorporate this is the system and even create a reward system for it. The education system should be concerned with students that have dyslexia by offering them special tool, programs and resources that will enable the learn. The directors of the movie hoped to send a message to teachers, parents and students about the effects of dyslexia and how the problem can be solved. The film shades light on the dangers a child might face if the society does not understand the problem. We see through the film that Ishaan is punished for something that he no control over and eventually leads him to depression and fear. However, with a good working system that understand the conditions, students are presented with a good environment to learn. Apart from that, parents are encouraged to understand their children and get involved in helping them through conditions that children have no control over. [Show More]
