In recent times, the rates of divorce have been on the rise. Studies show that divorce greatly affects the parents involved as well as their children. Through divorce children who are innocent in the ... relationship become the centre stage in some instances the parents fighting for custody. The degree that a divorce affects a child depends on their age. Adolescents do not take it well and often respond violently. A child depends on their parent for guidance and seeing one of them leave results to certain effects (Philpott, 2013). For children under the age of nine, their parents’ divorce leads them to become regressive. For the adolescents aged over twelve years, they become aggressive. Smaller children increase their dependence on the remaining parent while adolescents tend to become more independent.
