Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys shows, that “2 out of 3 adults are overweight or obese in the United States. (Brett, Garber, Garvey et.al., 2016). Obesity increases the risk for morbidity from other comorbidities such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, respiratory problems, and cancer. The economic and psychosocial consequences of obesity have considerable implications for the health and wellness of united states citizens. The impact of obesity on morbidity, mortality, and health care cost are tremendous. Obesity is major contributor to chronic diseases in the United and, as such, presents the US health systems with a major public health challenge. Clinical guidelines on overweight and obesity have been established to address and identify risks associated with overweight and obesity and the health effects of weight loss.
