Negotiation is not often associated with our everyday lives. But at its core, œNegotiation is a dialogue between two or more people or parties intended to reach a beneficial outcome over one or more issues where a conflict exists with respect to at least one of these issues. This beneficial outcome can be for all of the parties involved, or just for one or some of them. (Wikipedia.org, 2018) This can mean a lot of our social interactions on a daily basis can take the form of a Negotiation without thought or recognition of this happening. A solid foundation in communication, relationship building and tactics will help build your success when it comes to negotiations. During 2017 it became clear that the structure of the Department I was running was no longer effective and did not support the growth or career advancement desired by those in the department, nor my vision for the department.
