eng100_wk3_discussion.doc-1.doc Smart phone, Dumber you? J ENG/100 Smartphone, dumber you? The article I chose to read this week was "Smartphone, dumber you?" by Lisa Freedman. My proposed the... sis statement after reading this article would be œHow addicted to smartphones are we? the usage of smartphones has become out of hand, it is true that in some ways the smartphone can be a helpful tool but there are a lot down falls to it as well. Adults and teenagers and children have incorporated cellphone usage in everyday life things such as checking and updating social media platforms, work related problems, even entertaining young children and having them also become "addicted" to these smartphones at such an early age and it takes away from them using their minds because they can almost always go to the phones to find the answer they are looking for. Smartphones have taken away the fun people used to have by receiving a letter or a phone call because nowadays we can just communicate through text messages or social media posts, the pleasure of seeing a loved one you haven't seen in a while has lost its value simply because of social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram where you can simply upload a photo and it's there for everyone to see which loses the feeling that you haven't seen the person in a while. Then the good thing about them is if you are not able to get access the internet you can use your phone to check the weather, your email, or even your coursework.
