It can be further broken down into either gross anatomy, which refers to the study and dissection of the body without the use of microscopes or magnifying lenses, or microanatomy, which refers to the study of tissues and cells using magnifying equipment. On the other hand, physiology is the study of body functions and includes observing the human body, conducting experiments on the body, and/or using special materials and equipment. Physiology also includes studying the body at a cellular and chemical level. Billing and Coding Medical billing and coding are two separate careers that share a cause-and-effect relationship. Coders read medical charts, extract important information, and assign medical codes to those pieces of information. Once the medical record has been fully coded, the biller takes the assigned medical codes and inputs them into a medical claim form which is then submitted to an insurance company. The biller also appeals any claim denials and collects payments made by both insurance companies and patients. The Relationship Between the Two The connection is quite simple, though also very important.
