While the causes of obesity are manifold and are rooted in deep and lasting changes in recent history that affect nearly every aspect of peoples lives, it is nonetheless of utmost importance to treat the symptoms and causes of obesity in a serious manner. It is almost impossible to overstress the severity of the obesity epidemic which has many negative health, social, and economic consequences. A number of effective ways to address and combat the obesity epidemic are ingraining healthy food habits and an active lifestyle at home and in the family, educating and convincing businesses about the benefits of healthy and active employees on the bottom line, and fostering a healthy and active environment for students at schools. Parents and close family members have by far the highest influence on their children therefore obesity can be prevented if healthy food habits and an active lifestyle are ingrained and made a habit at home. One of the easiest way for parents to help their children prevent obesity is to avoid the very well known types of foods and ingredients that are directly linked to weight issues.
