A2: Access The United States is recognized as having a predominantly private healthcare system. Considering that in 2014, over 65% of the U.S. population had voluntary private health insurance, with the majority of the insurance coverage being provided by employers (Mossialos Martin, Wenzl, Osborn, & Sarnak, 2016). Healthcare access among children in the United States could be provided through the parents private health insurance policy or via the government, such as the Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The public health program is intended to provide affordable healthcare coverage to children whose family income level exceeds the qualification for Medicaid services, but is not enough to afford private insurance (U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services [CMS], 2017b). There are a few options for healthcare coverage among the unemployed population within the United States.
