Mental health - Refers to the ability to solve problems; fulfills ones capacity for love and work; cope with crises without assistance beyond the support of family or friends; & becoming independent as the need arises without permanently losing ones independence Mental Illness - Or mental disorder or syndrome with psychological or behavioral manifestation &/or impairment in functioning due to social, psychologic, genetic, physical/chemical, or biological disturbance. Mental illness - A disorder causing people to display abnormal behavior more consistently than most people, a psychology exhibiting frequent irresponsibility, the inability to cope, frequently being at odds with society & an inaccurate perception of reality; & the absolute absence or constant presence of a specific behavior that has a socially acceptable range of occurrences Psychiatric nursing - Interpersonal process whereby the professional nurse practitioner theough the therapeutic use of self, assist an individual, family, group or community to promote mental health, to prevent mental illness & suffering, to participate in the treatment & rehabilitation of the mentally ill & if necessary to find meaning in this experience Mental hygiene - The science that deals with measures to promote mental health, precent mental illness and suffering and facilitate rehabilitation Hierarchy of needs - 5.
