• Cloud DNS is a worldwide Domain Name System (DNS) service that publishes domain names to the global DNS in an efficient manner. It is high-performance, resilient, dependable, and low-latency. •... Cloud DNS makes it easier to publish DNS zones and records without having to worry about maintaining your own DNS software and servers. Both public and privately managed DNS zones are available with Cloud DNS. A private zone is only visible via one or more designated VPC networks, while a public zone is visible to the entire public internet. Even if you do not utilise Cloud DNS, Google Cloud automatically generates internal DNS names for VMs. • To use Shared VPC, the host project must build a Cloud DNS managed private zone, Cloud DNS peering zone, or Cloud DNS forwarding zone. • For private zones, Google Cloud provides incoming and outbound DNS forwarding. • DNS forwarding zones and DNS server policies are provided by Cloud DNS to enable DNS name lookups between the on-premises and Google Cloud environments. DNS Server Policies • Inbound DNS forwarding, outward DNS forwarding, or both can be specified by DNS Server Policies. • An incoming server policy is one that allows on-premises to VPC inbound DNS forwarding. Outbound server policy, or VPC to On-premises, is one approach that might be used to create outbound DNS forwarding. • If a policy embodies the characteristics of both an inbound server policy and an outgoing server policy, it can be both.
