EDUC 5210 Unit 5 Discussion BRAIN STRUCTURES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE FUNCTIONS. Introduction The brain begins to mature even before birth. Although it continues to mature throughout most of life, the... brain doesn't mature at an equivalent rate in each individual. Simply because you've got a classroom filled with students who are about an equivalent age doesn't suggest they're equally able to learn a specific topic, concept, skill, or idea. It’s important for teachers and old fogey to know that maturation of the brain influences learning readiness (Bower, J. M., & Parsons, J. M. 2003). For teachers, this is often especially important when designing lessons and selecting which strategies to use. During this paper I will be able to discuss brain structures: the lobes and cortex in reference to learning. Functions of the lobes & cortex and learning. The cerebral mantle, made from billions of neurons and glial cells, is split into the proper and left hemispheres and into four lobes.
