EDUC 5210 Unit 4 Discussion This week in our discussion forum we were asked to focus on the (1) lowest level and the (2) highest level of one of the domain taxonomies such as affective, cognitive, o... r psychomotor identified within a classroom lesson. We were also asked to explain how the domain was implemented in the classroom. Before I can focus on one of Bloom’s taxonomy, I want to quickly define the three domains and then focus on the one I found is currently the most important. After reading the articles I found that Bloom had a partner on the original publication. His name was David Krathwohl. Later, their work was updated by one of Bloom’s former students, Lorin Anderson. (Wilson, 2020) Cognitive domain The first domain is known as the cognitive domain. It is based on the development of knowledge. Six levels encourage students to “climb to a higher level of thought”. ("Assessment of learning domains to improve student’s learning in higher education," 2014) Most educators focus on this domain with their students. This domain assumes that learning is structured from the easiest to the most difficult. The six steps are: 1. Remember: Basic recall from previous knowledge 2. Understand: The previous comprehension 3. Apply: Doing something with the knowledge 4. Analyze: Breaking the knowledge and understanding the elements of it 5.
