Trauma-informed care for mental health professionals means understanding risk, trauma and crisis, which is articulated in this paper. Research on Counselor and Client Safety The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the understanding of risk assessment with the client and mental health professionals through evidence-based research. Four articles detail this importance in risk assessment and safety. The research was done to benefit mental health professionals in maintaining safety and the client's safety in a crisis that could potentially be dangerous. Aspects of risk discussed are assessment, understanding and application to real crisis scenarios which protects mental health professionals.
