Florida Hospital, located in Central Florida, is a 2,247-bed acute-care medical facility. Florida Hospital serves as a community hospital for Greater Orlando and is a major tertiary referral hospital for Central Florida and much of the Southeast, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Beginning in 2002, CMS partnered with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), another agency in the federal Department of Health and Human Services, to develop and test what is called the HCAHPS surveys. The HCAHPS survey asks discharged patients 27 questions about their recent hospital stay. Based in part on these scores, hospitals can either lose or gain a percentage of reimbursements.
