B. Intrapersonal Improvement Through his research, Dr. Daniel Goleman fostered the idea that emotional intelligence in the workplace is of greater importance than ones IQ. His model of Emotional Intelligence is made of four domains: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, and Relationship Management. Each of these domains contain layers of certain competencies. After completing the GEIT Test, my lowest score was in Self-Awareness. Interestingly, my other three scores were almost consistent. Because I worked in health care for over 13 years and am a mother, I tend to monitor the well being and emotions of others more so then myself. I recently switch from health care to an office position. This decision to make adaptation to meet personal and pandemic needs has left me with feelings of frustration and low self-esteem. I was on my way to being a nurse, and then life happen. I must take the opportunity to step back and see how my feelings are projecting on my family, friends and new co-workers. If I am throwing out negativity at my new job because I am disappointed in “what was” instead of “what is”, they will in return feed on that emotion.
