Theories of Leadership.docx C200 Theories of Leadership College of Business Information, Western Governors University C200 Theories of Leadership We all have leadership qualities within us, but ... to develop these qualities and to become the leaders we can be, we have first to determine our strengths and weaknesses. I utilized CliftonStrengths, an assessment tool, to detect what my leadership strengths are. In this paper, I will discuss my strengths, weaknesses, and how I can overcome, or improve these qualities, to become the best version of a leader I can be through self-awareness. A. My Leadership Analysis Through research and various studies, psychologist Daniel Goleman found that emotional intelligence is the ultimate ingredient to being an excellent leader. “Emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive your own and others emotions accurately; to understand the signals that emotions send about relationships; and to manage your own and others emotions (Ovans, 2015, p.3). Two elements of emotional intelligence are self-awareness and self-regulation. CliftonStrengths emphasizes both of these elements. It assisted me to determine my strengths are achiever, communication, futuristic, relator, and activator. A.1. Achiever I have always been a harder worker and logically inclined. I cannot rest until I have completed the task. There are times where I will work beyond the expected hours to ensure I have completed the job on time.
